Love Languages | Lady Luxe Life
Love Languages is definitely a term which started a decade ago. It’s a book, quiz and concept by Dr Gary Chapman, a Christian counselor. Just like speaking Spanish, French or English…we all speak a “love” language. Sometimes, it’s hard to understand the other person, when we don’t have the same love language.
Since it’s February, and a few weeks away from Valentine’s Day, I thought it would be fun to talk about one of the things which has impacted my own marriage. Learn your spouses’ love language!
The first step is taking the quiz. Thankfully, Alex and I are both Time, yet…as long as you know how to “speak” or express your love language, it’s powerful and connecting in a relationship.
Here are the 5 Languages:
#1.
Words of Affirmation: Words are powerful, and this love language can be expressed verbally, texts, written in love letters or cards. has intelligence and instinct. They thirst for freedom, and love to be social. They travel in packs, and are quick to react.
#2.
Quality Time: Whether it’s just sitting on the couch or going on a vacation, time is everything. This is both of our love languages, so sometimes, even just running errands is meaningful to both of us. We are both busy, so we try to spend as much time together as possible.
#3.
Gifts: can be simple or lavish, but it’s primarily material items. If it’s wrapped and a surprise…this is even more meaningful.
#4.
Service: Acts of Service can be as simple as taking out the trash, to changing the oil in your car. If this is given without asking, it’s powerful.
#5.
Touch: Touch can be a gentle touch on the hand to a kiss. Holding hands can be the most powerful constant connection between a couple, and I love to see this with those who are married.
